Egypt has sent invitations to several factions to attend bilateral meetings with officials in Cairo ahead of general reconciliation talks on Dec. 20, two of the factions confirmed Wednesday. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the Palestinian Liberation Front confirmed receiving the invitations to send a delegation to Cairo on Dec. 4 and 6 for talks on various elements of the deal. PFLP leader Rabah Muhanna asserted that all Palestinian factions should be included, not just Fatah and Hamas. Asked whether the PFLP has received an invitation from Hamas to participate in the local plans for reconciliation, he said, “We are against discussing reconciliation elements singly, or just implementing what is being agreed between Hamas and Fatah, and we preach a collective agreement including all elements and all factions.” In the same regard, the Palestinian Liberation Front said its officials received invitations from Egypt to hold bilateral talks in Cairo. The PLF’s secretary-general Wasil Abu Yousif will head a delegation to Cairo on Dec. 6.
