Iran concerned about indifference to massacre of people in region

A senior Iranian lawmaker lashed out at the Al Saud regime for extending all-out support to extremist groups in the region, and called on the international bodies, particularly the UN, not to remain indifferent to continued bloodshed in the Muslim states. “Saudi Arabia is the supporter of terrorism in the region and by creating tension and chaos in the countries such as Lebanon, Iraq and Syria, it seeks to save the Al Saud family from the Islamic Awakening and regional developments,” said Member of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Avaz Heidarpour in a Monday interview. “Therefore, this country (Saudi Arabia) will continue its terrorist actions by inciting sectarian and religious strife in Muslim states,” he added. The lawmaker pointed to Riyadh’s role in creating insecurity in Syria by supporting al-Qaeda and added, “The international community and UN should definitely take effective measures as soon as possible to prevent the escalation of violence and the activities of Takfiris.” In relevant remarks on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif voiced Tehran's concern about the spread of radicalism in the region, stressing that the phenomenon would bring about unpredictable threats to the other parts of world soon. Speaking at a meeting with Head of Italian Senate Foreign Policy Commission Senator Pier Ferdinando Casini in Tehran, Zarif said that radicalism threatens everybody and no one can claim that it is just a regional problem. The foreign minister underlined that if there is not enough cooperation, radicalism will spread to other regional countries and we will witness success of radicalism in these states. In mid-December, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian warned backers of terrorists about the dire consequences of their supports, saying that no ideology has materialized its long-term objectives by resorting to extremism and terrorism.
