A senior Iranian official congratulated the Syrian nation and army on recapturing the strategic town of al-Qussair in central Syria, semi-official ISNA news agency reported Wednesday. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, told ISNA that "Certain sides which support the shipment of arms (to the militants) and back terrorist actions against Syria are responsible for the massacre of the Syrians and destruction of Syria and (are the ones) who should be tried for war crimes." Earlier on Wednesday, the Syrian state-TV said the Syrian troops had regained full control of al-Qussair in Homs province after a two-week offensive. Iran has been the main regional ally of the Syrian government as its officials have repeatedly stressed Iran's support to the Arab state.
