Iran denies attempts to spread Shiite in Egypt

The head of Iran's Interest Section in Cairo Mogtabi Amani said on Friday that Sunni Egypt is a source of strength for Iran as Shiite Iran is a source of strength for Egypt. He told MENA that Iran's government and people hope all the best for Egypt. He denies that Iran seeks to spread Shiite Islam in Egypt. He said that there are attempts to keep Muslims away from the Israeli-Palestinian conflict via igniting disputes between Muslim countries. He added that they also tried to keep Egypt's "friendly countries" including Iran, away from helping it to overcome its current crises. A number of people protested on Friday outside Amani's residence in Cairo after reports that Iran tries to spread the Shiite sect in Egypt.
