Iran denies claims of Khamenei sending letter to Obama

Iran has categorically denied a recent report by The Wall Street Journal that the Islamic Republic's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei sent a letter to US President Barack Obama.
"Such claims are part of unprofessional media hype," Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham said in a statement carried by Fars News Agency (FNA).
She pointed out previous contacts from Obama to Iranian leaders regarding certain cases, to some of which Tehran responded.
"But there has been no new letter sent by the Supreme leader to the White House in recent weeks," Afkham affirmed.
On Friday The Wall Street Journal reported that Khamenei wrote to Obama on the possibility of US-Iranian cooperation in fighting the Islamic State in Iraq and Levant (Daesh) if a nuclear deal was secured.
