Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said that British Foreign Secretary William Hague's remarks on Iran's 9th parliamentary elections is baseless and an interference in Iran's internal affairs. "Remarks of British Foreign Secretary showed interventionist position and disappointment of statesmen of the country over failure of their hostility towards the Islamic Republic of Iran," Mehmanparast said. He added that Hague tried to overshadow the grandeur and magnificence of the public participation in the free and fair parliamentary election which was held on Friday in Iran. British politicians should respect the choice of the Iranian people, Mehmanparast said. On Friday, the British Foreign Secretary claimed that the election was undemocratic and the vote was not free and fair.
