A Pakistani researcher on Monday praised the efforts of Iran for holding an international conference on awakening in Muslim Ummah. Talking to IRNA Khalid Rahman Director General Institute of Policy Studies Islamabad, said that Muslims have to understand that their unity is their strength. ‘We must remain alert against western designs to hijack uprising movements in Muslims countries ’, he advised. The First International Islamic Awakening Meeting was opened with the speech by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. The closing ceremony of the international seminar was held with the speech of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the presence of more than 1,000 thinkers and intellectuals from Iran and foreign countries. Khalid Rahman expressing his views said that there is no other view to that the Islamic Revolution of Iran has inspired these movements. He said that Islamic Revolution has been flourishing for last many years despite western plots. “Islamic Republic of Iran is a role model for other Muslim countries”, he added. The researcher said that western countries are afraid of awakening in Muslim Ummah and taking all efforts to curb these popular anti-west movements. The analyst said that Muslims should be united to counter the western schemes. “Iran can play an important role for bringing unity in Muslim Ummah”, he added. Khalid Rahman said that Iran is the only Muslim country that has fought for the rights of Muslims. A statement issued at the end of the conference said the independence of Muslim nations and their relief from economic, political and intellectual boundaries created by colonial powers depends on unity and consensus of all Muslim nations. The Islamic Awakening is a revolutionary wave of demonstrations and protests occurring in the Muslim World. Since 18 December 2010, there have been revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt; a civil war in Libya resulting in the fall of its regime; civil uprisings in Bahrain and Yemen; major protests in the occupied Palestine against the Zionist regime, as well as minor protests in Kuwait, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia and Western Sahara.
