Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani invited his Malaysian counterpart Tan Sri Amin Mulia to the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Hassan Rouhani early August. An Iranian parliamentary delegation arrived in Kuala Lumpur Wednesday morning to extend a message of Larijani to his Malaysian counterpart. Larijani in his message has invited Mulia to attend the swearing-in ceremony of president-elect Hassan Rouhani slated for August 4. He also has underlined the need to enhance parliamentary relations between the two nations. The Iranian parliamentary delegation will then proceed to Indonesia. The main objective of the visits is to invite Indonesian and Malaysian speakers to Rouhani’s inauguration ceremony. Iran and Malaysia share many cultural and social affinities and the ties between the two countries’ people are very close. Iranian and Indonesian officials have on many occasions stressed their resolve to expand bilateral relations and mutual cooperation in different fields. Late in February 2012, Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty M. Natalegawa in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi underscored the importance of the expansion of his country's ties with Iran, and called for the development of Tehran-Jakarta relations in line with the two nations' common interests. During the meeting which was held on the sidelines of the 19th meeting of UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, the two top diplomats discussed the latest developments in the relations between the two countries in different fields.
