Iran's Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi expressed Tehran's readiness to assist Lakhdar Brahimi, the new joint special representative of UN and the Arab League (AL), in his mission to restore peace in Syria, Press TV reported on Sunday. In a phone conversation with Brahimi on Saturday, Salehi said Iran is looking for a peaceful Syria-Syria solution without the interference of other countries, said the report. Brahimi, for his part, stressed the importance of Iran's " positive" role in Syria's developments, saying the political approach to the Syrian crisis was the only solution to settle it, according to Press TV. The special representative also expressed hope that all concerned parties would cooperate to restore peace and security in Syria and stability in the region.
