
Iran's President Assistant, Ali Said Lo underlined his country's keenness on ''backing Syria in all fields, especially the economic, to confront the blatant war waged against it by the US, the West and regional countries.'' During his meeting on Saturday with Dr. Adnan Mahmoud, Syria's ambassador to Iran, Said Lo blamed the crimes against the Syrian people and ruining their economic capabilities and infrastructure on the parties involved in the aggression on Syria. Said Lo said "the strategic relations between Syria and Iran are based on firm principles that are ever deepening and serve the interests of the region as a whole.'' He considered that the Iranian presidential elections have ''aborted the West's bets and will serve consolidate the resistance front in the region,'' urging Syria's enemies to'' rethink their wrong calculations over two years in backing terrorism that will ultimately backfire and threaten security and stability of the region.'' He stressed Iran's resolve and will to implement the agreements signed between the two countries on schedule and help in securing Syria's needs to enhance its steadfastness. Ambassador Mahmoud congratulated the Iranian leadership on the elections that ''embodied the will of the Iranian people, their wide participation and commitment to their leadership and the values of the Islamic revolution in Iran.'' He expressed confidence that bilateral relation will gather fresh momentum in all fields and spur mutual economic cooperation.
