Iran plans to unveil five new defensive achievements in a special ceremony on Wednesday, the Iranian defense ministry announced in a statement issued on Tuesday. The defense ministry said in its statement that new products, including weapons and personnel combat equipments, will go on display in a special ceremony in Tehran on the verge of Khordad 3 (May 24), marking the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr city from the Iraqi occupation during the eight-year war in the 1980s. Senior Iranian military commanders and officials will participate in the event, the statement added. Earlier today, the Iranian Defense Ministry announced that it will supply large numbers of different types of missiles to the country's Armed Forces and unveil different defense projects in coming days. Speaking in Tehran on Tuesday, Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said that different types of missiles will be supplied to the military units this week on the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr city. He said that the country' latest defense achievements will also go on display in the next few days, including a special space center. Yesterday, the ministry started mass-production of a highly mobile home-made air-defense system. The production line of the new system, Herz (Protector) 9, was inaugurated in a special ceremony attended by Vahidi on the occasion of Khorramshahr liberation anniversary. Addressing the ceremony, Vahidi said that the system which has been designed and developed by Iranian experts at the Defense Industries Organization is a "sophisticated smart air-defense system and is capable of detecting, identifying and intercepting low-altitude targets through automatic controls". He said that the system enjoys high mobility and night operation capability and can be connected to the country's integrated air-defense network.
