Iran, US kick off second round of nuclear talks in Geneva

 Representatives from Iran and the United States have kicked off the second round of talks on the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program, Press TV reported.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Director of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi and Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi are members of the Iranian delegation while the American team is comprised of US Secretary of State John Kerry, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman and US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz.
The talks opened at 9:30 am local time in the Swiss city of Geneva.
Technical experts from Iran, the US and Europe also simultaneously started a meeting on the Iranian nuclear program.
The Iranian and US teams concluded their first round of talks, which began late Sunday, after 2.5 hours of discussions.
The ongoing talks in Geneva, which kicked off on Friday, are among the last attempts by the involved parties to narrow gaps on the remaining issues as a July 1 deadline for reaching a comprehensive deal draws closer. The two sides have missed two deadlines since an interim deal was signed in November 2013.
Iran and the P5+1 group – Britain, France, China, Russia, and the United States plus Germany – have been holding talks to resolve a dispute over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.
