Iran alarmed the world about secret centers and prisons which are set up in different parts of the world on the pretext of fighting terrorism in which prisoners are subject to the most brutal forms of tortures. In a statement read to 19th meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Iran stressed that such prisons stood in sharp contrast with the international regulations regarding the human rights. Taking effective measures to fight terrorism and protect human rights are common objectives of all world countries, the statement said, stressing that making use of secret centers in different parts of the world to torture prisoners under the cover of fighting terrorism and obtaining information from them is in no way based on human rights regulations. It further regreted that people are witnessing violation of human rights in some parts of the world the clear cases of which are the existence of secret and non-acknowledged prisons where the human rights are violated in the most shameful manner throughout the whole process of arresting, imprisonment and treating the suspects. Noting that the Islamic Republic of Iran has taken effective administrative, legal and judicial measures to prevent torture and misbehaviors in its legal system, the statement said that Iran’s Constitution and other regular laws forbid any mistreatment of prisoners.
