Turkish police on Tuesday arrested an Iranian national over alleged charges of provoking protesters in the Turkish capital of Ankara, state-run TRT TV reported. The Iranian national is allegedly charged with playing a provocative role in protests at Kizilay Square in Ankara, according to the report. Turkey has been witnessing nationwide anti-government protests, after clashes took place between the police and demonstrators recently at Gezi Park of Taksim Square in Istanbul. The demonstration started as an environmental sit-in at the park over plans to redevelop that part of Taksim Square, but later turned violent after vandals and some extremist groups mixed them into the peaceful protesters. Meanwhile, the police is also accused of using excessive force against the protesters.
