The Iranian Navy’s flotilla of warships will dock in Sri Lanka on March 21, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari announced on Monday.Speaking to (Fars) News Agency in Iran’s Northern port city of Bandar Anzali, Sayyari said the Navy’s 24th fleet of warships will be in Sri Lanka on the first day of the next Iranian year (March 21) after their successful mission in the Pacific Ocean and crossing the Equator.He reminded that the Navy is charged with protecting the Islamic Republic of Iran’s interests in the Oman Sea, North of the Indian Ocean and the Caspian Sea, and stressed that the Navy enjoys the necessary power and capability to accomplish its mission in the far seas.Earlier this month, Iranian warships docked in China’s Southern port city of Zhangjiagang as part of their mission to convey Iran’s message of peace and friendship to the East Asian states.Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Navy for Operations Admiral Siyavash Jarreh announced that the Navy’s 24th fleet of warship, comprised of Khark chopper carrier and Sabalan destroyer, docked in Zhangjiagang this morning after a 13,000-kilometer voyage in 40 days.The commander said that during its voyage the Iranian warships traced and detected 1,180 trade and oil vessels and monitored the moves of over 120 military units with the help of their optical and electronic equipment.Late in February, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari announced that Iranian warships will dock in Sri Lanka’s capital city of Colombo on its way back home from a mission in Southeast Asia.
