Iran's Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani arrived in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek on Wednesday to hold talks with senior officials of Kyrgyzstan. Larijani, who heads a parliamentary delegation, is scheduled to meet Kyrgyz Parliament Speaker Akmatbek Keldibekov and President Roza Otunbayeva, Iranian (Mehr) news agency reported. Iran and Kyrgyzstan will also sign a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation between the two countries'' parliaments. Larijani''s visit comes at the invitation of his Kyrgyz counterpart. In a meeting with Kyrgyz Ambassador to Tehran Medetkhan Sherimkulov on October 11, Larijani expressed the Islamic Republic''s readiness to help Kyrgyzstan with its economic and industrial development. He attached importance to the role of parliamentary ties in the reinvigoration of Iran-Kyrgyzstan cooperation and said Majlis would support any effort to bolster bilateral relations.
