MP, of the state of law coalition, Abdul Salam al-Maliki warned of a terrorist plot to target a number of government institutions and mosques during the coming period. "Al-Qaeda began preparing for terrorist attacks similar to the attacks that took place several days ago in Baghdad and killed and wounded hundreds of innocent citizens, exploiting the preoccupation of the security services to protect protesters in some provinces as well as the capital's cities in addition to their desire to create a fraught atmosphere before the elections of provincial councils. " Maliki said that "intelligence indicates to the existence of camps for al-Qaeda in the areas of the Jurf al-Sakher north of Hilla and the desert areas between the provinces of Samarra, Salahuddin, where the militants and suicide bombers are training in order to enter the capital to carry out their criminal actions, exploiting the worsening of the political situation and demonstrations in a number of provinces ". Maliki called for: "pre-emptive strikes to nests of terrorism and activate intelligence effort to prevent these groups from carrying out their criminal plots." Al Qaeda had claimed the responsibility of the bombings and suicide attacks by car bombs and explosive belts that occurred in Baghdad and several provinces during the past period.
