
Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Saleh al-Mutlaq met here on Sunday with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (SRSG) for Iraq, Nickolay Mladenov. The meeting discussed a number of Iraq’s and international issues; as well as preparations by political blocs to run in the upcoming election, in light of political and security situation Iraq and the area goes through. A statement issued by the Deputy Prime Minister’s office, carried by Iraq National News Agency (NINA) said that two sides discussed the regional situation, especially the Syrian issue which has negative effects on the situation in Iraq, in addition to foreign intervention in the Syrian crisis that complicated it. Mutlaq stressed the importance for efforts to continue supporting Iraq’s political and democratic process to fulfill the Iraqis’ desires to realize its dreams in stability and peace. He praised Mladenov moves on all political blocs toward reach common ground that would realizes the Iraqi people dream.
