Iraqi Foreign Undersecretary Lubaid Abba’wi conferred here on Saturday with a US delegation headed by Rose Katmar ,the Undersecretary of State for International Security Affairs, who is now visiting Iraq. The two sides discussed security and military bilateral relations and means of bolstering them. The talks also featured the latest developments in the region with emphasis on the Syrian crisis. A statement issued by the iraqi foreign ministry said that abba’wi stressed the importance of the visit for further enhancing and cementing ties of joint cooperation and coordination and resuming the perdiodical meetings of the security and defence committee within the context of the joint committee (JCC). The statement also expressed dissatisfaction of the iraqi government for postponing the international conference for making the midddle east a zone free of weapons of mass destruction and wished efforts would be exerted to convene it as soon as possible.
