Iraqi MP urges international community, Japan to help face displaced crisis

An Iraqi lawmaker called on the international community and Japan to help Iraq face the worsening displaced people crisis.

First Deputy of the Iraqi Parliament Speaker Humam Hamoudi said the displaced people are in dire need of assistance, especially in the Daesh-held areas.

He made the remarks during his meeting with Japanese Charge d'Affairs Kansuke Nagaoka, expressing his full support to the Japanese loans allotted to develop Iraq's infrastructure, particularly in the sectors of electricity, drinking water and sanitation.

Hamoudi called for activating the Iraqi-Japanese Parliamentary Friendship Committee and making good use of the Japanese experience in handling the Iraqi problems and challenges.

For his part, Nagaoka said that Japan is willing to boost cooperation with Iraq in all fields, especially which is related to soft loans, activating the joint Parliamentary Committee, delivering humanitarian aid for the displaced people, exchanging information and fighting Daesh terrorist group.
