Iraqi parliament condemns Turkish violation of national sovereignty

The Iraqi parliament has rejected and condemned Turkish violation of national lands and skies during operations in border areas in the north of the country.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Iraqi parliament called on Turkey to stop violating Iraq's sovereignty.
The statement followed a Turkish airstrike of targets inside Iraq.

Turkish jets launched raids inside Iraq that reportedly left casualties and caused huge material damage to private property and border villages.

The Iraqi parliament is keen on strengthening and boosting ties with Ankara based on mutual respect, but such policies can very well negatively affect bilateral relations, the statement said.

Turkey should take all necessary measures to prevent the infiltration of terrorists through the border, the parliament said.

It also urged the Iraqi government to take steps to stop and prevent the repeat of such violation and to act to protect national sovereignty and security.
