
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al Abadi discussed with the Russian President Vladimir Putin during a telephone conversation the liberalization progress of Mosul in northern Iraq from the grip of ISIS.
According to a statement issued Wednesday by the Iraqi Prime Minister's office, Al Abadi and the Russian President also discussed relations of cooperation between the two countries.
Al Abadi said that the liberalization operations of Mosul are going well, and that the Iraqi forces are making progress and liberating villages from ISIS, stressing that his government has plans related to the humanitarian aspect in Mosul, according to the statement.
The statement added that the Russian President expressed confidence in the ability of the Iraqi forces to liberate Mosul despite the difficulty of the task.
