Iraqi Premier meets US senator Lieberman

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliki met here this evening with visiting US Senator Joseph Lieberman and his accompanying delegation . During the meeting, Al Maliki stressed the need to develop the Iraq - US relations, based on common interests and mutual respect, said a statement by the Premiership . The statement added that Senator Lieberman has called for reactivation of contacts between the two countries in a way that enhances mutual understanding . He also expressed support for Iraq''s vision on the current developments in the region, the statement said.
