Iraqi Parliament Speaker Osama Nujaifi stated that they are on common ground with Turkey in believing that those who used chemical weapons should be held accountable for it. Sharing the agenda of his visit to Turkey with Anadolu Agency, Nujaifi said, “My visit carries the message of peace for Syria and friendship for Turkey.” Expressing that the Syrian regime has already lost its legitimacy, Nujaifi stressed, "the Syrian regime committed many crimes preventing it from compromising with its subjects.” Claiming that they are also in favor of punishing the use of chemical weapons, Nujaifi stated this punishment should be realized within the scope of an international resolution as unilateral military action will only complicate the situation there. Nujaifi also described the Free Syrian Army as “an army fighting for the targets of a real civil revolution.”
