Iraqi vice president meets UN special envoy

Iraqi Vice-President Khodair Al-Khozaei met here today with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (SRSG), Nickolay Mladenov. During the meeting , both sides reviewed the latest political developments in Iraq and the region . Al-Khozaei stressed that his country relies on the constructive role of the UN in encouraging all political parties to adopt a policy of dialogue, to renounce violence and to adopt the proper democratic approach in building the new Iraq . For his part, Mladenov reaffirmed the UN support to the initiative presented by the Iraqi presidency on civil peace emanating from it, saying it has a positive role in uniting the visions , attitudes and contribute to resolving the outstanding issues between all political parties . He expressed the readiness of the United Nations to provide all that would support the political process in Iraq .
