ISESCO condemns blast in Baghdad

The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) has condemned the terrorist blast which hit a crowded market in Khan Bani Saad town of Diyali governorate near Baghdad late Friday during Eid celebrations claiming the lives of more than 100 people including children and women.

In a statement released on Saturday, ISESCO said this terrorist act is a heinous crime against innocent people during Eid celebrations.

ISESCO called on its member states to intensify efforts to combat all forms of terrorism and chaos in the region, noting that Daesh actions defame Islam and have nothing to do with its tolerant teachings.

Daesh militants claimed responsibility and said in a statement that the suicide bomber had used three tons of explosives. The terrorist group, which controls large parts of northern and western Iraq, had previously carried out attacks in the eastern province of Diyala where Khan Bani Saad is located.
