The Islamic and Cultural Centre of Belgium has strongly condemned killing of the Imam of a Shia mosque in Brussels on Monday night. "We have followed with sadness the news about the criminal attack against the Al Rida mosque. On behalf of the Islamic and Cultural Centre of Belgium and on behalf of the entire Muslim community in Belgium, we condemn in the strongest possible terms this heinous crime which is in total opposition to the Islamic and human values," said the Centre in a statmenet, issued late on Tuesday. The center also expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved, and wished a speedy recovery to those injured. The Mecca-based Muslim World League runs the Islamic Centre in Brussels. The Imam of the Al-Rida mosque in the suburb of Anderlecht was killed in a petrol bomb attack on the mosque on Monday night. The suspect held in connection with the attack is being questioned by police.
