Islamic Summit Conference preparatory meetings kick off in Turkey

Preparatory meetings of the 13th session of the six-day Islamic Summit Conference (ISC) kicked off Sunday in Istanbul, Turkey.

Preparatory meetings, currently held at the level of senior officials, will continue till Monday.

The preparatory meetings will discuss the agenda of the preparatory ministerial gathering, the summit's draft resolutions and its draft closing statement.

The two-day preparatory ministerial gathering is scheduled to start on Tuesday, while the summit will be held on Thursday and Friday.

The 13th session of the Islamic Summit Conference will discuss the ten-year plan of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in the fields of security, terrorism, humanitarian affairs, development and poverty eradication.

The summit will tackle also the situation in the Palestinian territories, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan and Somalia.
