Ismailia governorate takes part in UN disaster meeting in Japan

Ismailia governorate is taking part in a UN disaster risk reduction conference in the Japanese city of Sendai that hopes to provide a springboard for efforts to tackle natural disasters and costly climate change.
Speaking to MENA, Mohammed Sabah, the head of the planning and studies department at the City Hall, said the third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction kicked off on Saturday and will wind up on Wednesday.
He said Ismailia is one of the four Egyptian cities that have been taking part since 2010 in a global campaign for capability building in times of disasters. The other three are Sharm el Sheikh, Cairo and Alexandria.
With the use of the latest information technology, he said the governorate is now trying to develop a database covering all streets, districts and buildings to make it easier for decision markers to take any decision in time of disasters.
