Israeli military announced on Monday refinement of its defensive systems located on marine borders with the Gaza Strip. The improvement included installment of developed technological programs that would enhance ability of marine forces to monitor suspicious traffic on surface or underneath water, as well as blocking infiltrators crossing oceanic borders, Israeli radio quoted Israeli security sources as saying. These steps would strengthen military's defensive ability at Israel's marine borders, noted sources. Israeli military claimed foiling attempts of smuggling arms and fighting items to the Gaza Strip via trading ships in the Mediterranean Sea. Also, it had announced confiscating several C-704 surface-to-sea missiles in one of the ships it had ceased in March, 2011, indicating that these missiles could have changed the landmark of Israeli military balance and situation in South Israel if they had arrived to Gaza.
