Israel is closely monitoring smuggling of weapons to rebels in Syrian, and is worried the arms would pose a security threat in future, intelligent sources have said. The sources, quoted by te Jerusalem Post newspaper Saturday, voiced concerns that weapons would fall in the "wrong hands," at a time "the collapse of Bashar Al-Assad seems more imminent than ever." They said Israel would not intervene to stop smuggling of weapons to rebels at this stage but it wanted to verify the types of weapons. Senior Israeli military intelligent officials suggested continued supervision of movement of weapons in order to prevent Al-Qaeda from aqcuiring the arms, or Al-Nasra front and Hezbollah in Lebanon including chemical and advanced weapons. They said Israel has been monitoring the alleged smuggling of weapons from Lebanon to syria since early 2012
