The Israeli Army has increased protection of its officers, fearing terror groups abroad and locally plan to kidnap or attack them, officials said. The army's unit in charge of personal security for senior officers recently added lower-ranking officers to its list of those entitled to bodyguards. There is growing concern in the army that members of Iran's Revolutionary Guards and other groups intend to target Israeli army officers in Israel or visiting abroad, the Hebrew daily Maariv said Monday. Officers visiting other countries have been instructed to be cautious and refrain from maintaining a predictable routine, the report said. Army officials say they believe Iran will try to physically harm or abduct Israeli military officers to avenge the deaths of Iranian nuclear scientists. Iran has blamed the deaths on Israel.
