Head of the Israeli Defense Ministry’s diplomatic-security branch Amos Gilad on Saturday warned that Lebanon's Hezbollah has an arsenal of 100,000 missiles, Jerusalem Post reported.
"The enemy has launched 14,000 missiles during the last war in 2006," he said. "Estimates indicate that Hezbollah has 100,000 missiles in Lebanon".
"Until now, Hezbollah has not launched them by virtue of Israel's deterrence capacity," Gilad said. "If Iran develops nuclear weapons, this is liable to change the deterrence balance."
Gilad said that the Russian-made surface-to-air S-300 missiles procured by Iran pose a challenge to Israel, though one that could be overcome.
He added that the weapon is not a defensive one, as the Russian government has claimed, but that Israel is capable of finding ways to neutralize the threat.
