Israeli police said it decided to impose a ban on Jews and tourists' entry to Al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam's third holiest site, to prevent potential tensions till the Lailatul Qadr, which marks the anniversary of the night Muslims believe Qur'an began to be revealed to Prophet Muhammad. Tens of thousands of Muslims frequent the mosque for visit and worship during Ramadan, Muslims' fasting month. Far-right groups in Israel described the decision as "extraordinary" and criticized police for failing to maintain security in the area. In last ten days of Ramadan, thousands of Palestinians stay in Al-Aqsa Mosque in seclusion in order to pray day and night.
