Israeli security official stabbed in terror attack

A police officer was stabbed in a terror attack in Jerusalem Monday and police said they are searching for the suspect. The incident happened in Jerusalem's Adam Square, Ynetnews.com reported. The officer, who was working for Israel's security forces, was stabbed in the back and suffered moderate injuries, police said. The suspect fled the scene after several shots were fired at him by police officers, officials said. The Jerusalem District Police said a massive security forces unit has been dispatched to track down the suspect. The attack came a day after a bomb exploded on a Bat Yam bus. While commenting on Sunday's attack, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said: "In the past few days we have witnessed a growing trend of attempted attacks. Since the beginning of the year there were 150 significant attempts, essentially one every other day." "We have managed to thwart these attacks because of our aggressive policy towards terrorist activity and the excellent work of our security forces," Netanyahu said.
