A group of extremist settlers cut off 1,150 trees of olives, all of these several years old, in the east of Nablus in the West Bank. Ghassan Daghlas, in charge of Israeli Settlements File in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, said that residents of Itamar settlement used chainsaws to cut down the trees north of Awarta in Nablus. He added that the locals heard sounds of chainsaws over the last several days, but did not know what was happening, noting that they had no access to their lands in the absence of permits from the Israeli military.
