
Italy's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Paolo Gentiloni, received on Wednesday Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh.
During the the meeting, Gentiloni underscored “Italy’s strong support for the UN-led political dialogue” and expressed the hope that said dialogue can increase its pace, a statement by the Italian Foreign Ministry reads.
He welcomed Speaker Saleh’s willingness to work towards the formation of a government of national unity that includes all Libyan groups who reject terrorism, the statement added.
“An inclusive approach and a government founded on a broad-based consensus are necessary to enable the international community to fully engage in the process of rebuilding and stabilising the country and combating terrorism”, concluded Minister Gentiloni.
