Italian Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs Staffan de Mistura is to visit Lebanon on Wednesday to meet with senior Lebanese officials and inspect his battalion in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), the Italian Embassy in Lebanon announced on Tuesday. During his visit, De Mistura is to meet with Lebanese President Michael Suleiman, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour and UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly, the Embassy said in a statement. Furthermore, the Italian official is to visit his country's battalion in the UNIFIL, which is led by UNIFIL Commander Major-General Paolo Serra. Recently, Lebanon has been witnessing increasing visits by Arab and international delegations, most notably the visit by French President Francois Hollande on Monday. Also, Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr is to visit Lebanon today and meet with Lebanese politicians on Wednesday.
