Italian Ambassador to Iraq Marco Carnelos underlined his country's continued backing for Iraq, saying that his country is a top contributor in the US-led coalition against Daesh.
Italy will provide soon a detailed report on the possibilities of renovating Ziggurat archeological site, located in the southern Iraqi governorate of Dhi Qar, Carnelos said on the fringe of his meeting with Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari.
The ambassador added that his country will back Iraq in winning a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
For his part, Jaafari hailed Italy's support for Iraq in various fields, including the security one through training police officers to protect monuments from looting as well as retrieving stolen artifacts.
