Japan deeply concerned over violence in Ukraine

Japan voiced deep concern on Wednesday over deadly clashes in Ukraine, calling on all relevant parties to desist from acts of violence."It is extremely regrettable that the violent clashes have caused many fatalities and injuries. We strongly urge all the parties involved to refrain from using violence, behave with self-restraint and responsibility, and quickly calm down the situation through dialogue," Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told a press conference. The top government spokesman also called on the Ukrainian government to ensure the safety of Japanese citizens in the country.According to media report, at least 21 people were killed and more than 200 injured Tuesday in the clashes between riot police and anti-government protesters in the Ukrainian capital Kiev.
