Japanese premier orders setting new nuclear safety standards

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda has ordered the placement of new standards for safety as a precondition to resuming activity at the two reactors on a nuclear station at the Japan Sea Coast. According to Radio Japan, Noda discussed the issue with three ministers responsible for the evaluation conducted by the Nuclear Safety Commission for the first group on Wednesday. The evaluation included tests at the Oi Nuclear Power Plant in Fukui and the results stated a re-operation approval. Some ministers said that the suggested safety standards proposed after the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident to prevent crises were not specific.
