Japan's opposition parties submit censure motion against Noda

Japan's two main opposition parties submitted a censure motion against Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda to the House of Councilors on Tuesday night. Liberal Democratic Party and its ally, the New Komeito, submitted their proposal criticizing Noda for his lack of ruling ability, aiming at pressing Noda to dissolve the parliament and call a general election soon. The opposition-controlled upper house is likely to vote on and pass the bill on Wednesday. But even if the censure motion is passed, Noda could refuse to call a general election during the current parliamentary session ending Sept. 8 as requested by the LDP.
