Commissioner-General of the National Center for Human Rights NCHR Mousa Breizat has taken part in the 22nd session of the UN Human Rights Council on equality between man and woman, currently underway in Geneva. Breizat, who is also chairman of the international coordination committee of human rights institutions, said that gender equality has been a top issue on the agenda of Jordanian national human rights institutions. He noted that a meeting organised by those institutions in Amman last year had approved practical steps to address violence against women, women empowerment and enhancing gender equality as stipulated by the Amman Declaration. The document, he added, has developed a working program for procedures to enhance women's participation in the political process and public life.
