Jordan, Egypt discuss joint industrial cooperation

Minister of Industry and Trade, Hatem Halawani, said the Kingdom looks forward to benefitting from an agreement it signed with Egypt to boost joint industrial cooperation.During a meeting with Egypt’s Minister of Investment Osama Saleh on Wednesday, Halawani said that the two sides stressed the need to boost and liberalize investments between the two countries, and further increase the trade exchange to a stage where the two countries can establish joint industries.Halawani said that enhanced exports between the two countries was among the nine agreements signed at the end of the 24th session of the Joint Higher Jordanian-Egyptian Committee, which was presided over by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour and his Egyptian counterpart, Hazem El-Beblawi.The minister, who chaired the preparatory meetings for the session, said that during the meeting, he reviewed with his Egyptian counterpart trade and investment agreements signed between the two countries.The meeting, which was attended by Jordan Chamber of Industry Chairman Ayman Hatahet, also focused on ways to encourage businessmen and the private sector in both countries for more mutual cooperation in the fields of industry and investment.The 24th session of the Joint Higher Jordanian-Egyptian Committee ended up with the signing of nine cooperation agreements in several fields which include vocational training, manpower, youth, drinking water, sanitation, culture, export development and social development.the meeting was attended by the economic advisor at the Jordan’s Embassy in Cairo, Fahad Fayept
