Jordan king confers with European officials on developments

Jordanian King Abdullah II conferred with a number of European officials in Strasburg Tuesday on the latest developments in the Arab and regional arenas especially efforts to combat terror and achieve peace in the region.
The Jordanian king visited the building of the European Parliament and conferred with Speaker Martin Schulz on means to boost Jordanian-European ties in light of the current issues in the Middle East.
The meeting took up the importance to increase cooperation between Jordan and the EU member states in relation to parliamentary and legislation fields.
The meeting asserted the role of the parliaments in nearing the points of view between countries.
Meanwhile, Schulz welcomed the visit of the Jordanian king to the premises of the parliament, lauding his wise vision in dealing with the issues of the Middle East.
King Abdullah also met with Chairman of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker and EU’s Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.
The meeting took up means to expand aspects of cooperation between Jordan and EU in light of the strategic partnership between them.
They also discussed the latest regional and international developments.
The Jordanian king called on the international powers and parties to work for reviving the peace process between the Palestinians and the Israelis.
The meeting asserted the importance of reaching a political solution for the Syrian crisis to end the suffering of the Syrians.
The European officials asserted the keenness of the EU to develop cooperation, friendship and partnership with Jordan for the common interest of both parties at the different domains.
