Jordan king holds talks with Singaporean president on bilateral ties

His Majesty King Abdullah II on Monday held talks with President of the Republic of Singapore, Tony Tan Keng Yam, that dealt with bilateral relations and ways of cementing them, especially in economic spheres.The talks also focused on Middle East issues, namely efforts to achieve peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis and the Syrian crisis and its repercussions.The two leaders stressed their keenness to deepen bilateral cooperation to serve the interests of both countries and peoples.His Majesty King underlined Jordan and its strategic location, as a gateway to the Middle East and a link between three continents, and enjoys security and stability and a qualified workforce.His Majesty called for benefiting from the advantages and facilities provided to investors, and enhancing economic partnership between Jordan and Singapore.Jordan always looks forward to benefiting from Singapore’s expertise, especially in areas of capacity building and human resources development, the King asserted.He also pointed out that Jordan, a current UN Security Council member, seeks to communicate with Asian nations and member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation towards building a common position on major global and regional issues.President Yam voiced hope that this visit would be an opportunity to develop ties with Jordan and build on them in various fields.He pointed to the Amman Message and the role of the King as a leader in the Muslim Arab who promotes the values of tolerance, justice and love in the Middle East and the world.The President of Singapore said his country views Jordan as an oasis of security and stability; thanks to the wise policy pursued by the moderate leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II.The two leaders stressed the need to support endeavors to achieve a comprehensive and just peace in the Middle East to achieve the rights of all parties and ensure security and stability for the peoples of the region.On Syria, His Majesty and the President of Singapore stressed the need to reach a comprehensive political solution to the crisis to end the suffering of the Syrian people.King Abdullah highlighted burdens borne by the Kingdom as a result of hosting a massive influx of Syrian refugees on its territory and its efforts to provide relief services to them.On the other hand, His Majesty King Abdullah II met with a number of business leaders, entrepreneurs and investors and told them that Jordan, despite regional turbulences and the repercussions of the global economic crisis, maintained security and stability and remained an attractive investment magnet in the region.His Majesty said Jordan’s vision aims at transforming challenges to opportunities to build on them by providing a secure investment climate, adding that the Kingdom looks to the private sector as a partner in the development process because it can contribute in enhancing the performance of the national economy.In this context, the King called on businessmen and investors in both countries to explore opportunities to strike effective economic partnerships and investment projects in various areas of common interest.On the sidelines of the visit, King Abdullah visited the Institute of Technical Education, which is one of the most advanced institutes in the training and preparing of high caliber professionals in various technical and technological sectors.The King was briefed on the sections and facilities of the Institute and on curricula and training being provided to students.
