Official Jordanian statistics showed on Wednesday that 635 Syrian refugees had crossed to Jordan and were settled at the Zaatari camp north of the country. General Coordinator for the affairs of Syrian refugees in Syria Anmar Al-Humoud said that the total number of the refugees at the Zaatari camp rose to about 53,000, according to the Jordanian (Al-Ghad) newspaper. The Jordanian authorities accepted 290 refugees on Tuesday, bringing the total number of those who have been staying outside the camp to 12,000, he said. The total number of the Syrian refugees who have returned voluntarily to their country since the beginning of the Syrian crisis in March 2011 meanwhile amounted to about 11,000 refugees, Al-Humoud added. According to official Jordanian statistics, the total number of the Syrian refugees who arrived through the border crossings and the border fence located between the two countries reached 267,000 since March 2011.
