Jordan said on Wednesday it will open a second camp for Syrian refugees in less than two months, state-run Petra news agency reported. The new camp, located some 20 km east of Zarqa city, will be ready in 50 days, said Anmar Hmoud, the government spokesman for Syrian refugee affairs. The camp seeks to reduce the accommodation pressure on the existing Zaatari camp, which is currently home to more than 39,000 Syrian refugees, Petra reported. Hmoud said the Jordanian Armed Forces are currently preparing the new camp, which will help Jordan absorb the increasing influx of Syrian refugees.
