Jordanian PM, Czech president hold talks, discuss ties

Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, on Wednesday, held talks with Czech President Milos Zeman, and an accompanying delegation, attended by a number of ministers and officials.
The talks dealt with ways to develop bilateral relations and strengthen them in all fields, in addition to the latest developments in the region, particularly the war against terrorism and terrorist organizations.
The prime minister said Jordan is keen on advancing relations with the Czech Republic, especially in economic and trade fields, noting that prospects for expanding joint cooperation exist in areas of renewable energy, tourism and transport.
Ensour underlined the need to support anti-extremism and terrorism efforts, referring the Czech Republic's participation in the international coalition against Daesh.
The Czech president voiced his country's keenness to enhance ties and cooperation with Jordan, haling the Kingdom as "one of the few countries in the Middle East, which enjoy security and stability." He said Jordan could be a gateway for the Czech Republic to the region's countries and markets.
Zeman expressed his country's solidarity with Jordan addressing the dangers posed by the terrorist gang Daesh.
During the talks, the Czech side expressed its desire to upgrade diplomatic representation between the two countries through a resident ambassador to Jordan in Prague.
Talks also tackled ways to increase cooperation in the security field through training and exchanging information regarding the fight against terrorism and illegal immigration.
