Jordanian King Abdullah II on Monday discussed with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. During a telephone conversation, King Abdullah stressed the need for an immediate cessation of the Israeli aggression on Gaza where the Palestinian people is going through a humanitarian tragedy and difficult conditions. Abdullah and Abbas agreed on the need to intensify regional and international efforts to achieve calm, and an end to military escalation which hinders the chances for achieving a just and lasting peace, according to Jordan news agency. The Jordanian King stressed Jordan’s full support for the Palestinian people to regain their legitimate rights, namely their right to an independent Palestinian state on Palestinian national soil according to the two-state solution.
